Curriculum Description
The MSc in Civil Engineering - major in Structural Engineering aims to train professionals with advanced knowledge, capable to operate in all areas of structural and geotechnical engineering, including analysis, design, testing, retrofitting, management and maintenance of civil structures and infrastructures.
The Programme is mainly focused on acquiring specialized knowledge for the design of complex civil engineering structures and related technical plants, including the diagnosis and rehabilitation of existing structures using innovative materials and techniques.
The curriculum delves into structural analysis methods with particular attention to computational mechanics, dynamics of structures and earthquake engineering, bridges analysis and management, foundation engineering anf reatining structures design.
This programme is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career as a structural engineer or design consultant or even proceed with academic career.
All the courses of this track are taught in English, according to the quick internationalization process of the activities of structural engineering companies, which increasingly require structural engineers mastering this language.

Structural Engineering is held at the Engineering Campus of the University of Perugia, a modern structure at the outskirts of the city, distributed across multiple engineering schools, with a dedicated library, computing facilities, laboratories, a food court and a dedicated train station. We are at the geographical centre of a wide network of national and international enterprises. Our network spans multiple countries, with plenty of options for student exchange opportunities.

Admission requirement
To be admitted,
perspective students have to present a pre-enrollment application by September 30th.
For students requiring a VISA, it is suggested to submit the pre-enrollment application by June 30th in order to be able to arrive to Italy in suitable time for the beginning of the courses (half of September 2024).

Students applying for the program need to have:
- a bachelor degree in Civil engineering with transcripts
- an English language proficiency certificate level B2 or equivalent.
A selection Committee will evaluate admission requests based on the degree certificate and transcripts and on the English language certification. Ideal students have competences on mathematics, physics, structural mechanics, structural design and soil mechanics at least.
